Community Support

Park Forest Social Club Comes Through

We were thrilled to accept a wonderful contribution from the generous people of Park Forest.  Pictured below are Marian Brumley and Elaine Trites presenting a check to our president, Becca Derosa.  A huge thank you to those community-minded folks  - we couldn't do this without people like you!

Loving Light Yoga Fundraiser On The Beach

On a beautiful Saturday morning, the folks at Loving Light Yoga held a celebration of their nine years of practice here in Englewood by hosting a gathering on Englewood Beach.  The event was attended by over 300 practitioners and Kids' Needs was the beneficiary.  Loving Light Yoga asked those in attendance to contribute to our efforts and almost $2,000 was donated.  Pictured below Jean Evans Joyce (left), publisher of the Facebook page "What's Happening in Englewood, FL", Lata Coykendall (center), owner of Loving Light Yoga, and Becca DeRosa(right), our chariperson.  We are very grateful to have the support of local organizations such as Loving Light Yoga and wish them another nine years (at least) of health and happiness.

American Legion 113 - Rotonda West Auxiliary Comes Through

In August, the Auxiliary of the Rotonda West chapter of the American Legion provided Kids' Needs with a much-needed and much-appreciated contributions of 57 pairs of new shoes a and a $500 check.  Pictured below are Barbara Horosky and Roma Miller from the Auxiliary with the bounty of shoes they brought to our storefront.  Kids' Needs is very grateful to have the support of local organizations such as the American Legion and sends out a hearty "thank you" to all involved.

Fund Raiser at Flounder's Restaurant and Tiki Bar

On April 2, Flounder's Restaurant and Tiki Bar on Englewood Beach held a casino night fund raiser to benefit Kids' Needs.  Even though a heavy rain diminished attendance, those who did come out were rewarded with an exciting evening of fun and games.  Although no true gambling was involved - that is, no money was ever at risk and only a chance at raffle tickets could be won - play was spirited and a grand time was had by all.

Pictured below are Linda Lyon and Theresa Armstrong from Flounder's with their check for the proceeds from the evening.  Kids' Needs is very grateful to have the support of local area businesses and sends out a hearty "thank you" to all involved in making the fund raiser at Flounder's such a success.

"Undie Sunday" on Boca Grande

In conjunction with their regular worship services, the Lighthouse United Methodist Church of Boca Grande recently held a drive to collect children's clothing for Kids Needs. Parishioners were asked to bring along to church services new underwear in children's sizes, and this "Undie Sunday" was a huge success.  The generosity of this congregation will go a long way toward stocking our closet for the current school year.

Pictured below are Becca DeRosa, Chair of Kids' Needs Board of Directors with Pastor Matthew Williams of Lighthouse United Methodist Church of Boca Grande.   The second photo shows Becca with Chuck Dever, husband of our late founder, Ann Dever, and a valued advisor to Kids Needs.  Thank you to all who made this clothing drive such a great success!

Kicks For Kids' Needs

We are very pleased that the shoe drives held over this past summer were such a rousing success.  The Placida Rotary Club, Lemon Bay Sunrise Rotary Club, and the Rotary Club of Englewood sponsored shoe drives to support the annual YMCA Back to School Bash in collaboration with Kids' Needs.  As in past years, Englewood Bank and Trust joined the effort.  Hundreds of pairs of shoes were collected and many area children are entering the school year well prepared for the changing season.

Pictured below are Brett White, president of the Englewood Rotary Club, and Rotary member Barbie Arbour.  Barbie is also a volunteer with Kid's Needs and serves on our Board of Directors.  A big "Thank you!" to all those who made this year's drive a winner!
