Welcome Back to School
Getting ready for the school year? Our closet will be open
Monday thru Wednesday, August 9-11, from 5pm to 7pm for clothing
shopping only. We will resume normal operating hours on
Thursday, August 12. We will be open every Thursday evening
thereafter from 5pm to 7pm.
To update our records, we kindly ask that you fill out a new
registration sheet on your first visit this school year. Thank
you and we look forward to seeing you soon.
Get ready for the Prom! We have gowns, tuxedos, suits,
separates, and shoes for you. We'll be focusing on serving
teens headed to the Prom all through April. Please drop by our
closet on Thursday evenings from 3:00pm-5:00pm on either April 8th,
16th, 22nd, or 29th, and we'll hook you up! You can learn more by clicking here.
A Special Christmas "Gift Away"
Kids Needs opened our closet for a special Christmas Giving
opportunity this past holiday season. We are thankful for the
several community organizations that provided a great deal of
support for this effort and for our ongoing operations. We
received donations from Rotonda Elks Lodge 2710, the Lemon Bay High
School Key Club, the United Methodist Church of Boca Grande, the
residents of the Pines of Sandal Haven, and the Women of Windward.
During the event we assisted 383 children from 161 families and are
so grateful for the community support that makes such generosity

Our Closet Re-opens with Special Requests
Like so much of our community, Kids Needs
closed our closet due to the corona virus. With improving
circumstances, we re-opened the closet on Thursday, September
3, 2020 with
hours. We will be open every Thursday evening from 5:00 pm to

Given the current state of corona virus lockdown nation-wide, we
have decided to cancel our fund-raising golf tournament for 2020.
As of this time, we do not expect the tournament to be held at all
during 2020 but instead will schedule it for April 10, 2021.
It will still be held at Oyster Creek Golf and Country Club, will be
a four-ball scramble with a shotgun start at 8:00 AM. Entry
fee is $50 per golfer and corporate sponsorships are also available.
All proceeds from the tournament will go to benefit Kids' Needs,
providing clothing, school supplies, toiletries, and educational
programs to children in the greater Englewood community.

Kids Needs Supported The Back To School Bash Once Again
As is our tradition, Kids Needs was a
sponsor of the annual Back to School Bash. Held every August
and supported by many area charities and businesses, the Bash
provides clothing and school supplies to local children in
preparation for the upcoming school year. This year, we were very
pleased to provide 450 pairs of sneakers along with socks,
underwear, and other clothing. You may view photos from the event by
Ninth Annual Golf Tournament Fund Raiser A Great Success
Once again, our annual fund raiser was
well-supported by area golfers. The tournament was held on April 13, 2019,
at Oyster Creek Golf Club and we raised over several thousand
dollars for the benefit
of needy children in our community. Our heartfelt thanks to
all who contributed to our success and to Denny Burnham and his

Scholarship Winners Announced
As we typically do, Kids' Needs
recently awarded two scholarships of $1,000 each to two graduating
seniors. This year's honorees were Kayla Mason and Jennifer
Simpson, pictured below with Kids' Needs board member Leslie
New this year, we also awarded a $1,000
scholarship in the name of Marcia Louden to honor her role in
establishing our organization. Pictured below with Marcia is
our first recipient, Kevin Avendano. Congratulations to all
our winners and best of luck as your pursue your dreams!
Marcia Louden Honored
Marcia, the former principal of LA
Ainger Middle School, is one of our founding members, and as such
she deserves recognition for our success in the community.
Marcia has retired from our Board of Directors but her contributions
to our organization over the years cannot be overstated. To
recognize that achievement, and to honor her involvement from our
beginning, Kids' Needs has established a perpetual scholarship fund
in Marcia's name.
Each year, we award two scholarships to
graduating seniors and that practice will continue. From now
on, however, there will be a third scholarship awarded in Marcia's
name. We surprised Marcia with this award at our recent picnic
honoring our volunteers. Pictured below are Marcia and Chuck
Dever. Chuck is the husband of our founder, Ann Dever, and has
remained active in our charity.
